1 Maccabees 5:50. And the men of the army drew near, and he assaulted that city all the day, and all the night; and the city was delivered into his hands:
1 Maccabees 5:57. And he said: Let us also get us a name, and let us go fight against the Gentiles that are round about us.

1 Maccabees 11:41. And Jonathan sent to king Demetrius, desiring that he would cast out them that were in the castle in Jerusalem, and those that were in the strong holds: because they fought against Israel.
1 Maccabees 11:46. And the king fled into the palace: and they of the city kept the passages of the city, and began to fight.
1 Maccabees 11:50. Grant us peace, and let the Jews cease from assaulting us, and the city.

1 Maccabees 13:47. And Simon being moved, did not destroy them but yet he cast them out of the city, and cleansed the houses wherein there had been idols, and then he entered into it with hymns, blessing the Lord:
1 Maccabees 14:1. In the year one hundred and seventy-two king Demetrius assembled his army, and went into Media to get him succours to fight against Tryphon.
1 Maccabees 14:26. For he hath restored his brethren, and hath driven away in fight the enemies of Israel from them: and they decreed him liberty, and registered it in tables of brass, and set it upon pillars in mount Sion.
1 Maccabees 14:32. Then Simon resisted and fought for his nation, and laid out much of his money, and armed the valiant men of his nation, and gave them wages.
1 Maccabees 15:19. It hath seemed good therefore to us, to write to the kings and countries, that they should do them no harm, nor fight against them, their cities, or countries: and that they should give no aid to them that fight against them.
1 Maccabees 15:39. And he commanded him to march with his army towards Judea: and he commanded him to build up Gedor, and to fortify the gates of the city, and to war against the people. But the king himself pursued after Tryphon.
1 Maccabees 16:2. And Simon called his two eldest sons, Judas and John, and said to them: I and my brethren, and my father's house, have fought against the enemies of Israel from our youth even to this day: and things have prospered so well in our hands, that we have delivered Israel oftentimes.
