you,

ὑμᾶς

ὅτι

it was

γίνομαι

not

οὐ

in vain:

even

after that we had suffered before,

προπάσχω

and

καί

were shamefully entreated,

ὑβρίζω

as

καθώς

ye know,

οἶδα

at

ἐν

Philippi,

Φίλιπποι

we were bold

παρρησιάζομαι

in

ἐν

our

ἡμῶν

God

θεός

to speak

λαλέω

unto

πρός

you

ὑμᾶς

the gospel

εὐαγγέλιον

of God

θεός

with

ἐν

much

πολύς

contention.

ἀγών

For

γάρ

our

ἡμῶν

exhortation

παράκλησις

was not

οὐ

of

ἐκ

deceit,

πλάνη

nor

οὐδέ

of

ἐκ

uncleanness,

ἀκαθαρσία

nor

οὔτε

in

ἐν

guile:

δόλος

ἀλλά

as

καθώς

we were allowed

δοκιμάζω

of

ὑπό

God

θεός

to be put in trust

πιστεύω

with the gospel,

εὐαγγέλιον

even so

οὕτως

we speak;

λαλέω

not

οὐ

as

ὡς

pleasing

ἀρέσκω

men,

ἄνθρωπος

but

ἀλλά

God,

θεός

which trieth

δοκιμάζω

our

ἡμῶν

hearts.

For

γάρ

neither

οὔτε

at any time

ποτέ

used we

γίνομαι

flattering

κολακεία

words,

ἐν

λόγος

as

καθώς

ye know,

οἶδα

nor

οὔτε

a cloke

ἐν

πρόφασις

of covetousness;

πλεονεξία

God

θεός

is witness:

μάρτυς

Nor

οὔτε

of

ἐκ

men

ἄνθρωπος

sought

ζητέω

we glory,

δόξα

neither

οὔτε

of

ἀπό

you,

ὑμῶν

nor

οὔτε

yet of

ἀπό

others,

ἄλλος

when we might

δύναμαι

have been

εἶναι

burdensome,

ἐν

βάρος

as

ὡς

the apostles

ἀπόστολος

of Christ.

we were

γίνομαι

gentle

ἤπιος

among

ἐν

μέσος

you,

ὑμῶν

even as

ὡς

a nurse

τροφός

cherisheth

ἄν

θάλπω

her

ἑαυτοῦ

children:

being affectionately desirous

ὁμείρομαι

of you,

ὑμῶν

we were willing

εὐδοκέω

to have imparted

μεταδίδωμι

unto you,

ὑμῖν

not

οὐ

the gospel

εὐαγγέλιον

of God

θεός

only,

μόνον

but

ἀλλά

also

καί

our own

ἑαυτοῦ

souls,

ψυχή

because

διότι

ye were

γίνομαι

dear

ἀγαπητός

unto us.

ye remember,

μνημονεύω

brethren,

ἀδελφός

our

ἡμῶν

labour

κόπος

and

travail:

μόχθος

for

γάρ

labouring

ἐργάζομαι

night

νύξ

and

καί

day,

ἡμέρα

because

πρός

we would

ἐπιβαρέω

not

μή

be chargeable

ἐπιβαρέω

unto any

τις

of you,

ὑμῶν

we preached

κηρύσσω

unto

εἰς

you

ὑμᾶς

the gospel

εὐαγγέλιον

of God.

are witnesses,

μάρτυς

and

καί

God

θεός

also, how

ὡς

holily

ὁσίως

and

καί

justly

δικαίως

and

καί

unblameably

ἀμέμπτως

we behaved ourselves

γίνομαι

among you

ὑμῖν

that believe:

πιστεύω

καθάπερ

ye know

οἶδα

how

ὡς

we exhorted

παρακαλέω

and

καί

comforted

παραμυθέομαι

and charged

μαρτυρέω

every

ἕκαστος

one

εἷς

of you,

ὑμᾶς

ὑμῶν

as

ὡς

a father

πατήρ

doth his

ἑαυτοῦ

children,

τέκνον

That

εἰς

ye

ὑμᾶς

would walk

περιπατέω

worthy

ἀξίως

of God,

θεός

who hath called

καλέω

you

ὑμᾶς

unto

εἰς

his

ἑαυτοῦ

kingdom

βασιλεία

and

καί

glory.

δόξα

For this

τοῦτο

cause

διά

also

καί

thank

εὐχαριστέω

we

ἡμεῖς

God

θεός

without ceasing,

ἀδιαλείπτως

because,

ὅτι

when ye received

παραλαμβάνω

the word

λόγος

of God

θεός

which ye heard

ἀκοή

of

παρά

us,

ἡμῶν

ye received

δέχομαι

it not

οὐ

as the word

λόγος

of men,

ἄνθρωπος

but

ἀλλά

as

καθώς

it is

ἐστί

in truth,

ἀληθῶς

the word

λόγος

of God,

θεός

which

ὅς

effectually worketh

ἐνεργέω

also

καί

in

ἐν

you

ὑμῖν

that believe.

brethren,

γίνομαι

followers

μιμητής

of the churches

ἐκκλησία

of God

θεός

which

ἐν

Judaea

Ἰουδαία

are

ὤν

in

ἐν

Christ

Χριστός

Jesus:

Ἰησοῦς

for

ὅτι

ye

ὑμεῖς

also

καί

have suffered

πάσχω

like things

ταὐτά

of

ὑπό

your own

ἴδιος

countrymen,

συμφυλέτης

even

καί

as

καθώς

they have

αὐτός

of

ὑπό

the Jews:

Ἰουδαῖος

Who both

killed

ἀποκτείνω

the Lord

κύριος

Jesus,

Ἰησοῦς

their own

ἴδιος

prophets,

προφήτης

have persecuted

ἐκδιώκω

us;

ἡμᾶς

they please

ἀρέσκω

not

μή

God,

and

καί

are contrary

ἐναντίος

to all

πᾶς

men:

ἄνθρωπος

κωλύω

to speak

to the Gentiles

ἔθνος

that

ἵνα

they might be saved,

σῴζω

to

εἰς

fill up

ἀναπληρόω

their

αὐτός

sins

ἁμαρτία

alway:

πάντοτε

for

δέ

the wrath

ὀργή

is come

φθάνω

upon

ἐπί

them

αὐτός

to

εἰς

the uttermost.

ἀπορφανίζω

a short

in presence,

πρόσωπον

in heart,

καρδία

endeavoured

σπουδάζω

the more abundantly

περισσοτέρως

to see

οἶδα

your

ὑμῶν

face

πρόσωπον

with

ἐν

great

πολύς

desire.

ἐπιθυμία

Wherefore

we would

θέλω

have come

ἔρχομαι

unto

πρός

you,

ὑμᾶς

μέν

I

ἐγώ

hindered

joy,

of rejoicing?

in the presence

ἔμπροσθεν

of our

ἡμῶν

Lord

κύριος

Jesus

Ἰησοῦς

Christ

at

his

coming?

παρουσία

are

ἐστέ

our

ἡμῶν

glory

δόξα

and

καί

joy.

χαρά
