Jerusalem,

Ἱεροσόλυμα

saying,

λέγω

Why

do thy

σοῦ

disciples

μαθητής

transgress

παραβαίνω

the tradition

παράδοσις

of the elders?

πρεσβύτερος

for

γάρ

they wash

νίπτω

not

οὐ

their

αὐτός

hands

χείρ

when

ὅταν

they eat

ἐσθίω

bread.

ἄρτος

he answered

ἀποκρίνομαι

and said

unto them,

αὐτός

Why

διατί

do ye

ὑμεῖς

also

καί

transgress

παραβαίνω

the commandment

ἐντολή

of God

θεός

by

διά

your

ὑμῶν

tradition?

παράδοσις

God

θεός

commanded,

ἐντέλλομαι

saying,

λέγω

Honour

τιμάω

thy

σοῦ

father

πατήρ

and

καί

mother:

μήτηρ

and,

καί

He that curseth

κακολογέω

father

πατήρ

or

ἤ

mother,

μήτηρ

let him die

τελευτάω

the death.

Whosoever

shall say

to his father

It is a gift,

thou mightest be profited

by me;

ἐμοῦ

he shall be free. Thus

have ye made

ἀκυρόω

the commandment

ἐντολή

of God

ἀκυρόω

by

διά

your

ὑμῶν

tradition.

Ye hypocrites,

ὑποκριτής

well

καλῶς

did

προφητεύω

Esaias

Ἠσαΐας

prophesy

προφητεύω

of

περί

you,

ὑμῶν

saying,

λέγω

This

οὗτος

people

λαός

draweth nigh

ἐγγίζω

unto me

μοί

with their

αὐτός

mouth,

στόμα

and

καί

honoureth

τιμάω

me

μέ

with their lips;

χεῖλος

but

δέ

their

αὐτός

heart

καρδία

is

ἀπέχω

far

πόρρω

from

ἀπό

me.

ἐμοῦ

in vain

μάτην

they do worship

σέβομαι

me,

teaching

διδάσκω

for doctrines

διδασκαλία

the commandments

ἔνταλμα

of men.

What Defiles a Man

the multitude,

ὄχλος

and said

unto them,

Hear,

ἀκούω

and

καί

understand:

Not

that which goeth

εἰσέρχομαι

into

εἰς

the mouth

στόμα

defileth

κοινόω

a man;

ἄνθρωπος

but

ἀλλά

that which cometh

ἐκπορεύομαι

out of

ἐκ

the mouth,

στόμα

this

τοῦτο

defileth

κοινόω

a man.

disciples,

and said

unto him,

Knowest thou

οἶδα

that

ὅτι

the Pharisees

Φαρισαῖος

were offended,

σκανδαλίζω

after they heard

ἀκούω

this saying?

he answered

ἀποκρίνομαι

and said,

Every

πᾶς

plant,

φυτεία

which

ὅς

my

μοῦ

heavenly

οὐράνιος

Father

πατήρ

hath

φυτεύω

not

οὐ

planted,

φυτεύω

shall be rooted up.

ἐκριζόω

leaders

of the blind.

both

shall fall

the ditch.

that

whatsoever

entereth in

the mouth

the belly,

κοιλία

and

is cast out

ἐκβάλλω

into

εἰς

the draught?

those things which

proceed

ἐκπορεύομαι

out of

ἐκ

the mouth

come forth

ἐξέρχομαι

ἐκ

the heart;

and they

κἀκεῖνος

defile

the man.

evil

thoughts,

διαλογισμός

murders,

φόνος

adulteries,

μοιχεία

fornications,

πορνεία

thefts,

false witness,

ψευδομαρτυρία

blasphemies:

βλασφημία

are

ἐστί

the things which

ὁ

defile

κοινόω

a man:

ἄνθρωπος

but

δέ

to eat

φάγω

with unwashen

ἄνιπτος

hands

χείρ

defileth

κοινόω

not

οὐ

a man.

a woman

of Canaan

ἐξέρχομαι

out of

the same

ἐκεῖνος

coasts,

ὅριον

and cried

κραυγάζω

unto him,

saying,

Have mercy

ἐλεέω

on me,

μέ

O Lord,

κύριος

thou Son

υἱός

of David;

Δαυίδ

my

μοῦ

daughter

θυγάτηρ

is grievously

κακῶς

vexed with a devil.

a word.

and besought

him,

away;

she crieth

after

us.

he answered

and said,

I am

ἀποστέλλω

sent

ἀποστέλλω

but

εἰ

unto

εἰς

the lost

ἀπόλλυμι

sheep

πρόβατον

of the house

of Israel.

and worshipped

It is

ἐστί

meet

καλός

to take

λαμβάνω

the children's

τέκνον

bread,

ἄρτος

and

καί

to cast

βάλλω

it to dogs.

And

δέ

she said,

Truth,

ναί

Lord:

κύριος

yet

καί

γάρ

the dogs

κυνάριον

eat

ἐσθίω

of

ἀπό

the crumbs

ψιχίον

which

ὁ

fall

πίπτω

from

ἀπό

their

αὐτός

masters'

κύριος

table.

Jesus

Ἰησοῦς

answered

ἀποκρίνομαι

and said

unto her,

O

ὦ

woman,

γυνή

great

μέγας

is thy

σοῦ

faith:

πίστις

be it

γίνομαι

unto thee

σοί

even as

ὡς

thou wilt.

θέλω

And

καί

her

αὐτός

daughter

θυγάτηρ

was made whole

ἰάομαι

from

ἀπό

that very

ἐκεῖνος

hour.

nigh unto

the sea

of Galilee;

εἰς

a mountain,

ὄρος

and sat down

κάθημαι

there.

multitudes

προσέρχομαι

unto him,

μετά

them those that were

ἑαυτοῦ

lame,

χωλός

blind,

dumb,

maimed,

and

καί

many

πολύς

others,

ἕτερος

and

καί

cast

ῥίπτω

them

αὐτός

down

ῥίπτω

at

παρά

Jesus'

Ἰησοῦς

feet;

πούς

and

καί

he healed

θεραπεύω

them:

Insomuch that

ὥστε

the multitude

ὄχλος

wondered,

θαυμάζω

when they saw

βλέπω

the dumb

κωφός

to speak,

λαλέω

the maimed

κυλλός

to be whole,

ὑγιής

the lame

χωλός

to walk,

περιπατέω

and

καί

the blind

τυφλός

to see:

βλέπω

and

καί

they glorified

δοξάζω

the God

θεός

of Israel.

προσκαλέω

his

disciples

unto him, and said,

I have compassion

σπλαγχνίζομαι

on

ἐπί

the multitude,

ὄχλος

because

ὅτι

they continue

προσμένω

with me

μοί

now

ἤδη

three

τρεῖς

days,

ἡμέρα

and

καί

have

ἔχω

nothing

οὐ

τίς

to eat:

φάγω

and

καί

I will

θέλω

not

οὐ

send

ἀπολύω

them

αὐτός

away

ἀπολύω

fasting,

νῆστις

lest

μήποτε

they faint

ἐκλύω

in

ἐν

the way.

ὁδός

And

αὐτός

disciples

μαθητής

say

λέγω

unto him,

Whence

πόθεν

should we

ἡμῖν

have so much

τοσοῦτος

bread

ἄρτος

in

ἐν

the wilderness,

ἐρημία

as

ὥστε

to fill

χορτάζω

so great

τοσοῦτος

a multitude?

unto them,

How many

loaves

have ye?

Seven,

little fishes.

the multitude

to sit down

ἀναπίπτω

the ground.

the seven

the fishes,

ἰχθύς

and gave thanks,

εὐχαριστέω

and brake

them, and

to the multitude.

they that did eat

four thousand

τετρακισχίλιοι

beside

children.

he sent away

ἀπολύω

the multitude,

ὄχλος

and took

ἐμβαίνω

ship,

εἰς

πλοῖον

and

καί

came

ἔρχομαι

into

εἰς

the coasts

ὅριον

of Magdala.
