star

to worship

him.

the king

had heard

ἀκούω

these things, he was troubled,

Jerusalem

him.

when he had gathered

the chief priests

ἀρχιερεύς

and

καί

scribes

of the people

together,

he demanded

πυνθάνομαι

them

Christ

should be born.

Bethlehem,

in the land

of Juda,

Ἰούδα

art

the least

ἐλάχιστος

among

ἐν

the princes

ἡγεμών

of Juda:

Ἰούδα

for

γάρ

out of

ἐκ

thee

σοῦ

shall come

ἐξέρχομαι

a Governor,

ἡγέομαι

that

ὅστις

shall rule

ποιμαίνω

my

μοῦ

people

λαός

Israel.

Ἰσραήλ

when he had privily

λάθρᾳ

called

καλέω

the wise men,

enquired

ἀκριβόω

of

them

diligently

ἀκριβόω

what time

the star

appeared.

and said,

Go

πορεύομαι

and search

ἐξετάζω

diligently

ἀκριβῶς

the young child;

ἐπάν

ye have found

εὑρίσκω

him, bring

ἀπαγγέλλω

me

μοί

word again,

ἀπαγγέλλω

that

ὅπως

I may come

ἔρχομαι

and worship

προσκυνέω

him

αὐτός

also.

they had heard

ἀκούω

the king,

βασιλεύς

they departed;

πορεύομαι

and,

καί

lo,

ἰδού

the star,

ἀστήρ

which

they saw

in

ἐν

the east,

ἀνατολή

went before

προάγω

them,

αὐτός

till

ἕως

it came

ἔρχομαι

and stood

ἵστημι

over

ἐπάνω

where

οὗ

the young child

παιδίον

was.

they rejoiced

χαίρω

with exceeding

σφόδρα

great

μέγας

joy.

when they were come

they saw

εὑρίσκω

οἶδα

the young child

παιδίον

with

μετά

Mary

Μαρία

his

αὐτός

mother,

μήτηρ

fell down,

πίπτω

and worshipped

προσκυνέω

him:

αὐτός

and

καί

when they had opened

ἀνοίγω

their

αὐτός

treasures,

θησαυρός

they presented

προσφέρω

unto him

gifts;

gold,

and

καί

frankincense,

λίβανος

myrrh.

being warned of God

a dream

that they should

ἀνακάμπτω

μή

return

ἀνακάμπτω

to

πρός

Herod,

Ἡρῴδης

they departed

ἀναχωρέω

into

εἰς

their own

αὐτός

country

χώρα

another

διά

ἄλλος

way.

ὁδός

Flight to Egypt

when they

were departed,

ἀναχωρέω

behold,

ἰδού

the angel

ἄγγελος

of the Lord

κύριος

appeareth

to Joseph

Ἰωσήφ

in

κατά

a dream,

ὄναρ

saying,

λέγω

Arise,

ἐγείρω

and take

παραλαμβάνω

the young child

παιδίον

and

καί

his

αὐτός

mother,

μήτηρ

καί

flee

φεύγω

into

εἰς

Egypt,

Αἴγυπτος

and

καί

be thou

seek

the young child

to destroy

him.

by night,

νύξ

departed

ἀναχωρέω

into

εἰς

the death

τελευτή

of Herod:

Ἡρῴδης

that

ἵνα

it might be fulfilled

πληρόω

which

was spoken

of

ὑπό

the Lord

the prophet,

προφήτης

saying,

Out of

ἐκ

Egypt

Αἴγυπτος

have I called

καλέω

my

μοῦ

son.

Weeping and Great Mourning

Herod,

Ἡρῴδης

when he saw

that

he was mocked

ἐμπαίζω

of

ὑπό

the wise men,

μάγος

was exceeding

λίαν

wroth,

θυμόω

and

καί

sent forth,

ἀποστέλλω

and slew

ἀναιρέω

all

πᾶς

the children

παῖς

that were in

ἐν

Bethlehem,

Βηθλεέμ

and

καί

in

ἐν

all

πᾶς

the coasts

ὅριον

thereof,

αὐτός

from

ἀπό

two years old

διετής

and

καί

under,

κάτω

according

κατά

to the time

χρόνος

which

ὅς

he had diligently enquired

of

the wise men.

for her

children,

be comforted,

an angel

of the Lord

Egypt,

Archelaus

did reign

Judaea

Herod,

Ἡρῴδης

he was afraid

φοβέομαι

to go

ἀπέρχομαι

thither:

ἐκεῖ

notwithstanding,

δέ

being warned of God

χρηματίζω

in

κατά

a dream,

ὄναρ

he turned aside

ἀναχωρέω

into

εἰς

the parts

μέρος

of Galilee:

Γαλιλαία

he came

ἔρχομαι

and dwelt

κατοικέω

in

εἰς

a city

πόλις

called

λέγω

Nazareth:

Ναζαρέτ

that

ὅπως

it might be fulfilled

πληρόω

which

ὁ

was spoken

by

διά

the prophets,

προφήτης

ὅτι

He shall be called

καλέω

a Nazarene.
