unto the higher

powers.

there is

ἐστί

no

power

ἐξουσία

but

εἰ

ἀπό

God:

the powers

ἐξουσία

that be

ὤν

are

ordained

God.

Whosoever therefore

ὥστε

resisteth

ἀντιτάσσομαι

the power,

ἐξουσία

resisteth

ἀνθίστημι

the ordinance

διαταγή

of God:

θεός

and

δέ

they that resist

ἀνθίστημι

shall receive

λαμβάνω

to themselves

ἑαυτοῦ

damnation.

rulers

ἄρχων

are

εἰσί3rd

not

οὐ

a terror

φόβος

to good

ἀγαθός

works,

ἔργον

but

ἀλλά

to the evil.

κακός

Wilt thou

θέλω

then

be afraid

φοβέομαι

of the power?

ἐξουσία

do

ποιέω

that which is good,

ἀγαθός

and

καί

thou shalt have

ἔχω

praise

ἔπαινος

of

ἐκ

the same:

αὐτός

he is

ἐστί

the minister

διάκονος

of God

θεός

to thee

σοί

for

εἰς

good.

ἀγαθός

But

δέ

if

ἐάν

thou do

ποιέω

that which is evil,

κακός

be afraid;

φοβέομαι

for

γάρ

he beareth

φορέω

not

οὐ

the sword

μάχαιρα

in vain:

εἰκῇ

for

γάρ

he is

ἐστί

the minister

διάκονος

of God,

θεός

a revenger

ἔκδικος

to execute wrath

ὀργή

upon

εἰς

him that doeth

πράσσω

evil.

Wherefore

ye must needs

ἀνάγκη

be subject,

ὑποτάσσω

οὐ

only

μόνον

for

wrath,

ὀργή

for conscience

συνείδησις

sake.

Love Fulfills the Law

he that loveth

hath fulfilled

the law.

commit adultery,

ψευδομαρτυρέω

bear false witness,

Thou shalt

ἐπιθυμέω

covet;

ἐπιθυμέω

if there be any

commandment,

it is briefly comprehended

ἀνακεφαλαιόω

this

τούτῳ

saying,

λόγος

namely,

ἐν

Thou shalt love

ἀγαπάω

thy

neighbour

πλησίον

as

ὡς

thyself.

ἑαυτοῦ

Love

ἀγάπη

worketh

ἐργάζομαι

no

οὐ

ill

κακός

to his neighbour:

πλησίον

therefore

οὖν

love

ἀγάπη

is the fulfilling

πλήρωμα

of the law.

Day Is Near

And

that,

τοῦτο

knowing

οἶδα

the time,

καιρός

that

ὅτι

now

ἤδη

it is high time

ὥρα

to awake

ἡμᾶς

ἐγείρω

out of

ἐκ

sleep:

ὕπνος

for

γάρ

now

νῦν

is our

ἡμῶν

salvation

σωτηρία

nearer

ἐγγύτερον

than

ἤ

when

ὅτε

we believed.

πιστεύω

The night

νύξ

is far spent,

προκόπτω

δέ

the day

ἡμέρα

is at hand:

ἐγγίζω

let us

ἀποτίθημι

therefore

οὖν

cast off

ἀποτίθημι

the works

ἔργον

of darkness,

σκότος

and

καί

let us put on

ἐνδύω

the armour

ὅπλον

of light.

Let us walk

περιπατέω

honestly,

εὐσχημόνως

as

ὡς

in

ἐν

the day;

ἡμέρα

not

μή

in rioting

κῶμος

and

καί

drunkenness,

μέθη

not

μή

in chambering

κοίτη

and

καί

wantonness,

ἀσέλγεια

not

μή

in strife

ἔρις

and

καί

envying.

ζῆλος

But

ἀλλά

put ye on

ἐνδύω

the Lord

κύριος

Jesus

Ἰησοῦς

Christ,

Χριστός

and

καί

make

ποιέω

not

μή

provision

πρόνοια

for

εἰς

the flesh,

σάρξ

to fulfil the lusts

ἐπιθυμία

thereof.
